I listen to this version of the LotR about once a year all the way through. It never ceases to amaze how one young sound artist created such a beautifully rendered reading with voices and soundscapes that put you IN the setting. I would give it 10 stars out of 5 if possible!

I love this reading! Especially to get me though work, road trips, even cleaning the house! The voices, music and sounds. It’s so immersive!

This audiobook was wonderful to listen to, especially with its well picked VFX and incredible music by Howard Shore. The cast all have flavorful and distinct voices and are full of character. I think the only thing I disliked was the way Treebeard sounded, but aside from that it was extremely enjoyable.

God bless Phil Dragash stuff, I came across an obscure YT link to a chapter of his work and was HOOKED. The level of quality that was presented in these works still blows me away. I've finally bought the books and I'm making sure I save copies of his audiobooks on different drives. ALSO...because I still couldn't believe that all this was made by one super fan, I snooped around and came across Phil's Ko-fi page. Apparently, he's artist that takes commissions! The page allows you to buy him a coffee if you've enjoyed any of his work. https://ko-fi.com/philman

That’s by far best audio book I’ve ever listened too in terms of Quality and effort put into it that’s just mind blowing and the soundtracks and voice of the characters being similar to the Peter Jackson movies is just a whole other lvl pf awesomeness and brilliance

The sound effects though very good are often too loud and the characters sound too much like the Peter Jackson movies. I'm not a big fan of the Jackson of the Rings movies, too much action, not enough story so I really don't want the audiobook characters to remind me of them. So a star off for sound effects volume and a star off for similarity.

This was obviously done as a labor of love. And it is very loved! I've heard the other recordings done of these books and nothing touches them! Ignore those one or two reviews that say something unkind , these recordings are the best done, even with the few mistakes in them!

I agree with dwarfguy, backround sounds are deffinetelly too loud and noisy. It takes off huge part (and one star) off listening enjoyment.
I tend to listen Rob Inglish version tad more pleasure, tho' Inglish pronounce some names weirdly funny.

I find this to be the best lotr audiobook by far. Complete, many different voices, uses the music from the movies, etc. That said, it is sometimes hard to understand some diologue over the sound effects and music, but maybe that's just me.

This man is an absolute genius! In the end of The Departure of Boromir, after Aragorn shouts, "Forth the Three Hunters!", Phil just blasted the main theme onward until the end of the recording, the song really added depth and weight to the end of the chapter :)

Excellent adaptation of the Lord of the Rings. Uses music from the movies and sound effects in the background. This is an unabridged adaptation.
